Varanus macraei (blue-spotted tree monitor)
About this model
Testing phase.
(Varanus macraei), also known as the blue-spotted monitor lizard, is a rare species of monitor lizard discovered in 2001 and native to small islands in Indonesia. It belongs to the same group as Komodo dragons, but has a much more slender and arboreal body, adapted to life in tropical trees.
Its most striking characteristic is its extremely vibrant coloration: its body is dark, covered in intense turquoise-blue patterns, making it one of the most eye-catching reptiles in the world. It can reach about 1 meter in length, with most of that length corresponding to its long prehensile tail, used for balance and climbing.
Because it lives on small islands and has a limited geographic distribution, it is considered vulnerable to habitat loss and the exotic animal trade. In addition to its ecological importance, the species has become very popular among reptile breeders due to its beauty.
