(※)イギリスは第一次大戦の戦訓により、戦車を

・歩兵支援を目的とした重装甲の「歩兵戦車」（マチルダ、チャーチル）

・機動力に優れた「巡航戦車」（クルセーダー、クロムウェル etc.)

に二分し開発・運用しましたが、いずれも高火力&重装甲のドイツ戦車に苦戦を余儀なくされ、不足している「火力」は結局アメリカから供与されたM4戦車で補う事となってしまいます。
