Hakata-san is an unofficial moe anthropomorphic character of a Japanese table salt called Hakata-no-shio (伯方の塩), which was created from a thread in Nico Nico Douga, a Japanese video sharing service.
Hakata-san wears a sombrero-like hat and poncho because Mexico is included in the origin of the raw materials used in Hakata-no-shio, and the red and blue stripes on the white background reflect the Hakata-no-shio package design.
